Laura feels like a mummy wrapped up from head to toe. She's got a puffy coat, puffy snowpants, puffy mittens, and a puffy hat (topped with a not-so-puffy pom pom). Her boots, while definitely NOT puffy, are bright and pink and perfect for stomping in the snow.
And snow there is. It's the type of morning when you would just know that school was canceled. But this, being the Island, is a place where school never happens unless you want it to. And after a long steady snow fall, a morning with bright snow shine and fresh clean snow is exactly the sort of day when you wouldn't want to have to be inside at school!
Laura runs out and immediately slides down a hill, hollaring as she does. Who needs a sled when you can slide down on your tummy like a penguin? At the bottom, she rolls over onto her back and makes a snow angel, jumps up, moves over a bit and does it again.
